Be Inspired
If you’re looking for something inspiring or special, we’re here to help you find it.
Our customers love the experience of browsing in comfort around our three floors of jewellery, watches, giftware, clocks, barometers and trophies. We’re always happy to give you expert personal advice to help you make that special purchase. And if you still can’t find exactly what you’re looking for, we can usually obtain it or even custom-design it for you.
We’re an independent family business, now in our third generation. Our family roots in jewellery go back to the early 1930s, when Colin Shepherd senior was appointed curator of the Birmingham School for Jewellers which he served for nearly forty years. The school was responsible in those days for producing many items of fine hallmarked silverware, often commissioned for dignitaries and our own royal family.
Colin junior (born 1932) opened his first retail jewellery shop in Handsworth in 1958, and is still very much part of the day-to-day running of our Lichfield business, with his eldest son Paul.
Our staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and never pushy. And with ages ranging from sixteen to seventy five, we’re able to combine three generations of expert knowledge with the latest trends and fashions.
Facing the market square and Doctor Samuel Johnson’s birthplace, our three-storey shop is a grade two listed building that’s steeped in fascinating history. Built in Tudor times in the 1550s, it’s one of the oldest buildings in Lichfield. In its time it’s been home to the Dean of Lichfield, as well as a tobacconist and a hatter’s shop.
